In the Ukrainian Cup quarter-final Athletic faced HIT Kyiv. The team won the home leg in Dnipro 4:3 but lost the return leg 1:6 — HIT advanced 9:5 on aggregate.

In the round of 16 Athletic knocked out MSK Kharkiv: after a 3:5 away defeat, the team won the home leg convincingly 4:0 and took the tie 7:5 on aggregate.

The Cup experience against the country’s strongest club became a key part of the preparation for the championship play-offs — where the same opponent was waiting.
