Athletic Futsal opened the new Extra League season with a 3:2 win over Sukha Balka, taking three points from a fiercely contested Dnipro derby that launched the club's 2026/27 campaign.
The match was decided by a brace from Andre Luiz in the 23rd and 24th minutes, with Illia Terentiev rounding off the scoring in the 30th. That spell in the second half proved enough to earn Athletic Futsal an important three points.
Meetings with Sukha Balka always carry a special edge. Last season Oleksandr Kabanenko's side already got the better of the Zhovti Vody club, in the Extra League 2025/26 playoff semifinal series that became a stepping stone to the club's historic silver.
This new season is a special one: 2026/27 will bring Athletic Futsal's debut in the UEFA Champions League. A confident start in the league is therefore an important signal ahead of a packed schedule.
