Athletic Futsal has been named the breakthrough team of the 2025/26 BetKing Extra-League. 55% of the fans who took part in the poll named the Dnipro side the club that made the greatest progress compared with the previous season. More than half of the votes is telling proof of just how visible the team's leap forward was.
In only their second campaign in the top division, the Dnipro side reached the BetKing Extra-League final and, in doing so, qualified for the 2026/27 Champions League. For a club founded in 2015, this was the most successful season in its history.
The road to the final was convincing: in the play-off quarter-final Athletic Futsal knocked out Cardinal-Avangard in a 3:0 series, and in the semi-final overcame Sukha Balka by the same margin. Only in the final series against Kyiv's HIT did the Dnipro side fall short, taking the silver medals.
This result was no accident. Oleksandr Kabanenko's team produced one of the most prolific seasons in the league, and a stable squad together with well-drilled football allowed it to regularly beat opponents stronger on paper.
Being recognised as the breakthrough team was the public's assessment of the work the club put in over the season. Now a new challenge awaits Athletic Futsal — a debut on the continental stage in the UEFA Champions League, which the team reached thanks to this historic breakthrough.
